The Addis Ababa (Ethiopia)-Djibouti Railway operating company, a joint venture established by China Railway No.2 Engineering Group Co., Ltd. and the local proprietor, launched a tree-planting campaign themed “Green Addis Ababa-Djibouti, Green Ethiopia” on June 27 local time, as a way to respond to the national afforestation action organized by the Ethiopian government.

At the opening ceremony of the tree-planting campaign, the national anthems of Ethiopia, Djibouti and China resounded consecutively at the square of the railway station as the national flags of the three countries were raised. The general manager of the local proprietor noted that the campaign reflected the concept of “green travel, green development” upheld by the Addis Ababa-Djibouti Railway, and declared that their company will continue planting trees along the railway extending for more than 700 kilometers, in an attempt to support the national afforestation action.(By Tang Yongcheng)
