The Xingguo permanent magnetic levitation pilot line is China’s first project based on permanent maglev technology. The maglev train “Xingguo” features a suspended monorail structure and is designed to run at a speed of 80 kilometers per hour. The main part of the pilot line is an 800-meter-long elevated single track, with a double track reserved for future operation. The project started construction in February 2021, and is expected to begin trial operation in July this year.

“Xingguo” is the first in the world to adopt permanent magnetic levitation technology, which allows the train to have environmentally friendly attributes, non-contact traction system, strong climbing ability, smaller turning radius, low noise, and zero electromagnetic pollution. The technology is suitable not only for conventional environments such as urban scenic areas, commercial districts, and specialty towns, but also for geographically difficult areas such as those on the lakeside, along the coast, in a frigid zone, and on desert land.
