The final acceptance meeting for the eighth Bangladesh-China Friendship Bridge was held on May 21 local time. The project, the construction of which was participated in by China Railway Major Bridge Reconnaissance & Design Institute Co., Ltd., was rated “excellent” at the meeting.

　　The eighth bridge constructed in Bangladesh with China’s assistance, it is located about 5 kilometers east of Pirojpur in the Barisal Division of southern Bangladesh. With a total length of 2.96 kilometers, the project includes a newly-built 1.493-km ultra large bridge, which has two lanes, a width of 13.4 meters, and a span made of 72+7×122+72-meter prestressed concrete continuous rigid frame box girder with variable height.   

　　China Railway Major Bridge Reconnaissance & Design Institute Co., Ltd. was in charge of the whole-process management of the construction, including engineering surveying, reconnaissance, plan design, construction supervision and project management. The engineering surveying was initiated in May 2016 and the reconnaissance and design were finished in September 2016. After nearly six years of construction, the bridge is scheduled for handover this June.
