Anthem of CREC—“Trailbreaker”

The 2A section from Lae to Nadzab Airport along the Highlands Highway in Papua New Guinea (PNG) opened to traffic recently. The project was designed by China Railway Eryuan Engineering Group Co., Ltd.

Stretching 35.5 kilometers in length, the project is a two-way highway with a two-meter-wide sidewalk on each side. It has four lanes, with a roadbed width of 23.6 meters. With a designed speed of 80 kilometers per hour, the east-west highway is the only passage connecting Lae and the Highlands.

It is the first highway project surveyed and designed by China Railway Eryuan Engineering Group in Oceania, and is also the first asphalt concrete pavement road in Lae, which adopts the design standards of the State of Queensland, Australia.

The highway is expected to facilitate traffic from Lae to Nadzab Airport. Improved transportation will also attract companies to choose office sites along the route, which will boost the economic development in Lae.
