On September 3, President Xi Jinping and African leaders attended the opening ceremony of High-level Dialogue between Chinese and African Leaders and Business Representatives and the Sixth Conference of Chinese and African Entrepreneurs at Beijing National Convention Center. Later in the afternoon, 2018 FOCAC Beijing Summit took place at the Great Hall of the People. Xi delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony, outlined a new blueprint for China-Africa cooperation and announced new actions and mechanisms for practical cooperation between China and Africa. With over 50 heads of African countries and governments attending the forum, FOCAC 2018 is the largest gathering of foreign leaders in China this year. CREC President Zhang Zongyan and Vice-president Ren Hongpeng were invited to attend the above-mentioned activities.

On September 4, President Zhang attended the 2018 High-level Dialogue between Chinese and African Leaders and Business Representatives and the Sixth Conference of Chinese and African Entrepreneurs, and delivered a speech as the speaking guest at one of the seminars on facilitating African nations to forge an integrated transportation system by way of construction-operation model or through local personnel training and innovative financing. After the speech, Zhang exchanged views and experiences with other business representatives and entrepreneurs.

On the same day, Vice-president Ren Hongpeng, on behalf of CREC, had meetings with Burkina Faso President Roch Marc Christian Kabore and Morocco’s Minister Delegate for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Mohcine Jazouli in Beijing.

In the meeting with Kabore, Ren introduced CREC and its key achievements. “With rich experience and professional competence in railway construction, CREC wishes to contribute to the infrastructure construction in Burkina Faso,” said Ren. Kabore extended his warm welcome to CREC’s participation, adding that railway development is the top priority to Burkina Faso, and invited CREC delegation to visit Burkina Faso in the near future to have in-depth discussions on cooperation.

In the meeting with Jazouli, Ren introduced that CREC - a state-owned large construction engineering corporation - has scored remarkable achievements in transportation infrastructure construction and industrial parks development. He said that CREC is willing to bring into full play its advantages and strength in fields of planning and design, industrial park construction, investment attraction, operation and management, etc. to promote project development and achieve win-win cooperation. Jazouli spoke highly of CREC’s comprehensive strength in construction sector and welcomed CREC to actively take part in the projects development in Morocco.
