From July 26 to August 2 (local time), Bi Yanchun, Chairman of China Railway International Group Co., Ltd. (CRIG), undertook a series of business activities in Madagascar and Mozambique. He paid courtesy calls to Gervais, Senior Advisor to the Government of Madagascar;Ji Ping, Chinese Ambassador to Madagascar, and Zheng Xuan, Chinese Ambassador to Mozambique. He also held talks with João Matlombe, Minister of Transport and Logistics of Mozambique.

On July 27, Mr. Bi Yanchun met with Gervais, Senior Advisor to the Government of Madagascar.He outlined the history, business segments, global footprint of CREC and CRIG, as well as the ongoing operations in Madagascar. Gervais highly commended CREC’s world-leading comprehensive capabilities and brand reputation in the construction sector. He expressed appreciation for CRIG’s commendable contributions to infrastructure development in Madagascar, and spoke highly of CRIG’s proposals and plans tailored to the country’s infrastructure development priorities.

On July 28, Bi Yanchun met with Ji Ping, Chinese Ambassador to Madagascar. Bi Yanchun briefed the Ambassador on the overall development of CREC and CRIG. As one of the two wings under the CREC’s One Body, Two Wings, N-Drivers overseas development strategy, CRIG has led and facilitated the implementation of landmark  Belt and Road Initiative projects such as the China–Laos Railway and the Jakarta–Bandung High-Speed Rail, building a strong brand image in overseas markets.Ambassador Ji Ping welcomed Bi Yanchun and his delegation, and expressed the hope that CRIG would leverage its full-industry-chain advantages to actively participate in Madagascar’s infrastructure development, uphold compliance, strengthen risk management, fulfill corporate social responsibilities, and integrate into local development, thereby contributing to the deepening of China–Madagascar economic and trade cooperation.

On July 31, Bi Yanchun met with Zheng Xuan, Chinese Ambassador to Mozambique. Bi Yanchun outlined the history of CREC, its overseas business footprint, as well as its market development and progress on key projects in Mozambique.Ambassador Zheng Xuan introduced the general situation of Mozambique, and expressed the hope that CRIG would proactively align with Mozambique’s national development plans while delivering high-quality performance of ongoing projects, seize new opportunities in infrastructure construction, further cultivate the market, and enhance exchanges and cooperation, so as to contribute to local socio-economic development and the improvement of people’s wellbeing.

During the visit, Bi Yanchun met with João Matlombe, Minister of Transport and Logistics of Mozambique. Bi Yanchun presented an overview of CREC and CRIG, as well as the projects and market development in Mozambique. Minister Matlombe fully acknowledged CRIG’s professionalism, delivery capacity, and dedication demonstrated in implementing the highway project. He expressed the hope that CRIG would participate more extensively in Mozambique’s infrastructure development and contribute to the country’s economic and social progress.
