From August 31 to September 4, Zhao Jinxiang paid a business visit to Nigeria, during which he paid a courtesy call on Wang Yingqi,Minister Counselor for Economic and Commercial Affairs at the Embassy of the People's Republic of China, and held talks with Dr. Belgore, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development of Nigeria.

On September 3, Zhao Jinxiang paid a courtesy call on Wang Yingqi, Minister Counselor for Economic and Commercial Affairs at the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He briefed Mr. Wang on the history and evolution of China Railway Group Limited (CREC), its overseas business, and the global footprint of China Railway International Group Co., Ltd.(CRIG), with a special focus on the company’s operational track record and current development status in Nigeria, as well as its strategy for developing Nigeria into a key market for CRIG. He noted that Nigeria’s infrastructure market boasts robust demand and substantial growth potential, and that CRIG would further scale up resource input, advance the substantive and localized development of its overseas offices, balance development and security, conduct business in strict compliance with laws and regulations, and continuously improve the quality of its development in the Nigerian market.

Minister Counselor Wang Yingqi acknowledged CRIG's long-standing commitment to the Nigerian market and its active participation in local infrastructure development. In light of Nigeria’s current economic and social landscape, he offered guidance on strengthening safety management, ensuring regulatory compliance, advancing key project development, and deepening localization efforts. He expressed the hope that CRIG would fully leverage its strengths to deliver more signature projects and people’s livelihood projects in Nigeria, thereby contributing substantively to the broader framework of practical cooperation between China and Nigeria.

On the afternoon of September 3, Zhao Jinxiang held talks with Dr. Belgore, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development of Nigeria. He briefed Dr. Belgore on the company’s business operations and development, and exchanged views on cooperation in areas including affordable housing, urban renewal, sewage treatment and urban multiutility tunnels. He stated that the company would fully leverage the full-industry-chain strengths of CREC and explore diversified cooperation models based on specific projects to meet Nigeria’s needs for housing construction and urban development and deliver win-win outcomes for both sides.

Dr. Belgore conveyed the welcome extended by Mr. Mutakwa Rabi Dama, Minister of the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, to Zhao Jinxiang and his delegation. He expressed appreciation for CRIG’s achievements in its long-term commitment to the Nigerian market and active participation in local infrastructure development. He also outlined development plans and priority areas for housing and urban renewal across Nigeria, and he hoped that CRIG would further draw on its strengths in technology, management and project execution to actively engage in the construction of key projects.
