Anthem of CREC—“Trailbreaker”
Designed by China Railway Eryuan Engineering Group and constructed by China Railway Wuhan Electrification Bureau Group, the catenary project of the Chinese section of the China-Laos Railway achieved a successful power transmission on October 21. As the electrification of the Lao section was completed on October 17, the power supply lines, catenary and related equipment along the entire line of China-Laos Railway have been fully charged, laying a solid foundation for the testing and opening of the railway.
The China-Laos Railway measures more than 1,000 kilometers in total. It starts from Yuxi City in southwest China’s Yunnan Province and runs south to pass through Pu'er, Xishuangbanna, and Mohan Port before crossing the national borders to Laos’ Boten and Luang Prabang and finally arriving in Vientiane, the capital of Laos. After the Belt and Road Initiative was proposed by China, the China-Laos Railway became a project demonstrating the friendship between both countries. It is the first cross-border railway invested and constructed by China. It adopts Chinese railway technical standards, uses Chinese equipment, and is directly connected to the Chinese railway network.
