On March 22, the "explosion-proof" earth pressure shield machine "CREC 1403" developed by China Railway Engineering Equipment Group, a subsidiary of China Railway Hi-Tech Industry, successfully rolled off the production line in Tianjin Base. This second shield equipment successfully rolled off the production line within a month, which will be applied to the PA-CT project in Sicily, Italy, and the 16th shield equipment exported to Italy by China Railway Engineering Equipment Group.
Sicily Phase II PA-CT Project is an integral part of the railway line between Catania and Palermo in Italy. It is also a strategic project to develop sustainable travel in Italy with the support of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. The excavation diameter of "CREC 1403" is 9.48 meters, the total length is about 251 meters, and the total weight is about 2300 tons, which will be applied to Lot 4A of the PA-CT project. The total length of the single line of this section is about 13.39 kilometers, the total mileage is about 27.52 kilometers, and the total length of the underground part is 19.72 kilometers, including the Montestretto, Salso, and Trinacria tunnels.
"CREC 1403" earth pressure shield machine adopts an explosion-proof design, meets ATEX (Atmosphères Explosibles), CE (Conformité Européenne), and Italian local standards, and carries many advanced technologies such as continuous tunneling, green energy saving, intelligent inverted arch pouring, TBM intelligent maintenance, etc., which provides essential technical support for the tunneling and maintenance of shield machine. The construction efficiency and the service life of the equipment are improved.
