The first international railway corridor, Meng(zi)-He(kou) Railway went on operation in Yunnan. It was designed by China Railway Eryuan Engineering Group, constructed by China Railway First Group and China Railway No.6 Group. As the first international railway corridor in Yunnan, it is a key project for the western development strategy, the "bridgehead" construction project in Yunnan, and also an important part of the east line of Trans-Asian Railway within China. Its total length is 141 km, starting from Mengzi, southward to Hekou. The designed Standard is National Grade I for Electrified Railway, with a design speed of 120 km/h. The date of commencement was July of 2009.
