The Bheri Babai Diversion Multipurpose Project’s TBM Tunnel obtained the certificate of completion and handover on September 3, 15 days ahead of the contracted date.

Officially launched in June 2015, construction of the project included a 12.2-km-long diversion tunnel and auxiliary facilities, as well as supporting engineering such as sand and gravel mining, tube production and independent power generation. On April 16, 2019, the whole tunnel was completed, six months ahead of schedule. A National Pride Project of Nepal, the project is undertaken by China Overseas Engineering Group and China Railway No.2 Engineering Group, both under the China Railway Group (CREC).
