Steel beams of the first section of the Jinhai Bridge connecting Hengqin New Area and Zhuhai Airport in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, were successfully erected by China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group Co., Ltd. on January 31. The bridge is the first dual-purpose multi-pylon cable-stayed bridge in the world where the expressway and railway are at the same level. The erection marked that the construction of the bridge had moved to the on-bridge structure.
The bridge is a key project for the second-phase Zhuhai Airport inter-city railway program. It is the world’s first dual-purpose multi-pylon cable-stayed bridge, with a four-pylon cable-stayed structure as the main body. Measuring 1,369 meters in length and 49.6 meters in width, it is the widest bridge where the expressway and the railway are on the same level in the world.
