Designed by China Railway Eryuan Engineering Group and constructed by China Tiesiju Civil Engineering Group, Amojiang Grand Bridge closed on October 19, marking that construction of the main part of this concrete bridge with the largest span on the China-Laos Railway has been completed.
Amojiang Grand Bridge is situated in Mojiang Hani Autonomous County, Yunnan Province. As the “two tunnel, one bridge” model is quite typical for constructing railways in remote and mountainous areas, the bridge is built to connect two tunnels crossing inside the mountains on both sides of the Mojiang River. Measuring 617 meters long, the bridge is 153 meters high from the river surface. Its main part is characterized by a prestressed concrete structure with three continuous rigid-frame bridges measuring 112, 216 and 112 meters in length respectively, and the 216-meter part features the largest span for bridges of its kind in China.
