On April 3, the staff of China Railway Construction Engineering Group, who undertook the construction task of China's 39th Antarctic Scientific Expedition Project, returned smoothly aboard the "Xuelong" scientific research vessel and successfully completed the 19th Antarctic Expedition Construction Mission of China Railway Construction Engineering Group.
Since 2002, the builders of China Railway Construction Engineering Group have made 19 expeditions to Antarctica. They have overcome extreme environmental factors such as cold, strong wind, heavy snow, strong noise, and intense ultraviolet radiation. A total of 14 single buildings have been built in Zhongshan Station, including a high-altitude physical observation building, comprehensive building, sewage treatment building, waste treatment building, high-frequency radar room, garage, comprehensive warehouse, overwintering dormitory building, main power generation building, greenhouse vegetable corridor and helipad, with a total construction area of more than 8000 square meters. Now Zhongshan Station has become the most well-equipped, technologically advanced, and large-scale scientific research base in the history of polar scientific research in China, providing a solid guarantee for the cause of Antarctic scientific research in China.
