On June 10, China Railway No.4 Engineering Group Co., Ltd. finished concreting the bearing platforms for the F4 main tower of a channel bridge over the Yangtze River, as part of the Chaohu-Ma’anshan Intercity Railway. The completion has made it possible to continue the construction despite the upcoming flood season.
A key project for the Chaohu-Ma’anshan Intercity Railway, the dual-purpose channel bridge in Ma’anshan is a double-tower steel-truss cable-stayed structure. Its main span is 392 meters in length. When it is completed, it will be a three-tower two-span cable-stayed bridge with the largest span in the world. There are two main bearing platforms for the main towers, both of which were designed in dumbbell shape. The cross-sectional area for the platform is around 1,500 square meters, and needs 7,942.4 cubic meters of concrete to be placed in two separate times. This time, a total of 4,506 cubic meters of concrete were placed. The large project requires high-standard technical expertise and was finished under complicated circumstances.
