On February 23, at the track-laying construction site of Dongchong Bridge of Guangzhou-Shantou Railway in Shanwei City, Guangdong Province, the last 500-meter-long rail was laid safely and smoothly by the track-laying unit of China Railway No.5 Engineering Group, and the main line of Guangzhou-Shantou Railway was laid through.
Guangzhou-Shantou Railway with a total length of 202 kilometers and a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour. China Railway No.5 Engineering Group is responsible for track laying of the whole line, including 419.04 km for the main line and 104.69 km for the station track.
It is reported that Guangzhou-Shantou Railway, as a part of the national coastal high-speed railway network Yongguang High-speed Railway, will connect Beijing-Guangzhou, Guangzhou-Shenzhen, Hangzhou-Shenzhen, Beijing-Hong Kong High-speed Railway and other railways, and will further weave the railway network of Dawan District. After completion and opening to traffic, the running time from Guangzhou to Shanwei will be shortened from the current 2 hours to about 1 hour.
