The World's Largest Vertical Axis Cantilever Roadheader Has Been Successfully Manufactured

On April 19, two CTR450 cantilever roadheaders independently developed by China Railway Engineering Equipment Group, a subsidiary of China Railway Hi-Tech Industry, were launched in Xinxiang City, Henan Province. The equipment is the world's largest vertical axis cantilever roadheader, which will soon be sent to Korea to serve the construction of the Daegu Municipal Underpass Tunnel, the first time China's domestic cantilever roadheader has been exported to Korea.

CTR450 cantilever road header is 21 meters long, 4.1 meters wide, and 5.1 meters high, with cutting power of 450/350 kilowatts, single positioning cutting range of 9.3 × 8.2 meters, dust removal air volume of 1500 cubic meters per minute and complete machine weight of 188 tons. The product innovatively designs a telescopic cutting arm with a maximum elongation of 1.2 meters, which is the first in the world to increase the cutting area by 20%. Through a series of targeted designs, the R & D team has increased the equipment's cutting efficiency and the consumption rate of the pick lower. It has solved the technical problems of the equipment's low-temperature start-up and high-temperature heat dissipation. The product is uniquely equipped with a cab with patented technology, improving construction safety.

"The weight, cutting power, and cutting range of this equipment are all the world's largest records, and it is a well-deserved all-around champion product." Wei Chenggang, the chief designer of the equipment, said, "CTR450 cantilever tunneling machine can cut tunnel sections of any shape and excavate continuously without blasting vibration. The cut surface is accurate and flat, which is easy to support, can reduce the cost of over-excavation support and lining, and greatly improve the safety and economy of construction."

The CTR series cantilever roadheader is a comprehensive tunneling equipment independently developed by China Railway Engineering Equipment Group, which is a non-explosive tunneling equipment integrating cutting, walking, loading, spraying, and dust extinguishing, and meets the construction needs of various complex strata with surrounding rock strength of 5-120 MPa. The construction method covers full-section, two-step, annular excavation with reserved core soil, double-side heading method, CD method, etc. The excavation section covers circular, rectangular, horseshoe-shaped, etc. It is widely used in railway, highway, subway, water conservancy, municipal, mining, and other single-track, double-track, double-arch, and other large and small tunnels/tunnels and tunnels, which is a "sharp weapon" for tunnel construction.
