On June 8, the world's first gear-rack swivel cable-stayed bridge, the Xiangyang Ring Line Speed-up Reconstruction Project, was successfully closed across the Xiangyang North Marshalling Station Bridge, which was designed by China Railway Major Bridge Reconnaissance & Design Institute Co,.Ltd. and China Railway Hi-Tech Industry Co,.Ltd..
The bridge is a construction period control project of the Xiangyang Ring Line Speed-up Reconstruction Project in Hubei Province, with a total length of 920 meters, a width of 37.5 meters, six two-way lanes, and a design speed of 60 kilometers per hour. It is a cable-stayed bridge with double towers and double cable planes. The total length of the bridge across the station yard is 520 meters (the width of the station yard is 490 meters), and the steel-concrete composite beam is used to cross 32 tracks, the largest span and the largest number of railway tracks in China.
o protect the base materials from corrosion and prolong the service life of the bridge, the main girder of the bridge across the railway is made of weather-resistant steel, the first urban bridge in China to use paint-free weather-resistant steel. Compared with spraying anticorrosive paint on the surface, weather-resistant steel can reduce the maintenance work of steel girder coating within the design service life and is more suitable for bridge projects across large and busy railway stations and yards.
