On August 20, the installation of the first steel cofferdam of the north main tower pier of Chongqi Highway and Railway Yangtze River Bridge, the world's largest span double-tower double-cable plane highway and railway dual-purpose ballastless track cable-stayed bridge under construction by China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group, was completed. The north central tower was formally transferred to the construction stage of the bearing platform.

The Chongqi Yangtze Rive Rail-cum-Road Bridge is the control node project of the Shanghai-Nanjing-Hefei high-speed railway, with a total length of 4.09 kilometers. Its structure is a dual-deck rail-cum-road bridge, with the upper deck being a two-way six-lane first-class highway with a speed of 100 kilometers per hour and the lower deck being a double-track high-speed railway with a speed of 350 kilometers per hour and a double-track intercity railway with a speed of 250 kilometers per hour. The bridge is divided into a main navigable span bridge, a non-navigable span bridge, a highway and railway approach bridge on the north and south banks, and a single railway approach bridge on the north and south banks. The main navigable span bridge is a steel truss composite girder cable-stayed bridge with a span of 400 meters, double towers, and double cable planes, and its span ranks first in the world.
