Recently, the International Bridge Congress (IBC) announced the list of winners of the 2023 Bridge Awards and the Croatian Perešac Sea-Crossing Bridge, which was built by China Railway Baoji Bridge Group Co,.Ltd., a subsidiary of China Railway Hi-Tech Industry Co,.Ltd., won the Gustav Lindsar Award (Gustav Lindenthal Medal) of the 40th International Bridge Congress.
As a critical strategic livelihood project to promote cooperation between China, Croatia, and the European Union, Perešac Bridge is the first major project implemented in the European Union, which the European Union funds, adopts EU standards and global bidding, and won by the Chinese side. The total length of the bridge is 2440 meters. The main bridge is a six-tower steel box girder low-pylon cable-stayed bridge with a central single cable plane. It crosses the Little Stone Bay in the Adriatic Sea in southern Croatia. It was completed and opened to traffic on July 26, 2022. China Railway Baoji Bridge Group Co,.Ltd. has undertaken the production task of 18000 tons of steel structure for 81 beam sections of the S7-U14 bridge.
The International Bridge Conference (IBC), an international bridge academic conference with a high reputation worldwide, has a vast influence on the world bridge industry. Its Bridge Award was established in 1988 and is selected once a year. It is known as the "Nobel Prize" in the bridge industry. The results of the selection include seven awards. Among them, the Gustav Lindthal Award is awarded to bridge projects with outstanding achievements in bridge practicability, technical content, material reform, appearance design, harmony with the surrounding environment, and public participation, and only one bridge project is selected worldwide each year. Previously, China Railway Baoji Bridge Group has won this award five times.
