On December 28, 2023, the Nansan Island Bridge Project of the Zhanjiang Ring Expressway, which China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group constructed, was opened to traffic. This is the first island expressway in Nansan Island, which shortens the time of entering and leaving the island by 30 minutes. The total length of the Nansan Island Bridge Project is about 16 kilometers, connecting Nansan Island in Zhanjiang, Guangdong Province, and Huangpo Town in Wuchuan City. As a control project, Luzhou Bridge crosses the Nansan Waterway with a total length of 3043 meters. It is designed to withstand 16 typhoons and has a navigation tonnage of 3000 tons under the bridge.
