On September 3, the Nepal KK Highway Project Department of the China Railway No.2 Group was awarded the honorary title of "Best Environmental Protection Monitoring Team" by the Ministry of Finance of Nepal and the Asian Development Bank, which is the only such award issued by the Asian Development Bank in the South Asian Subregional Economic Cooperation Project.
The KK Highway Project is an existing road reconstruction project with a length of 87 km and a route crossing 56 rivers. While rapidly promoting construction and production, the project department actively fulfills its social responsibility and pays attention to natural environment and ecological protection.
Faced with the differences in environmental protection requirements in different countries, the large number of rivers, the easy pollution of rivers by bridge construction, and the wide range of ecological protection control points, the project department organized forces to study the relevant laws and contract requirements of environmental protection in Nepal, planned the ecological protection management plan, communicated with the government and supervisors, and jointly issued the construction ecological assessment report.
Combining with the actual situation, the project department has formulated a number of system documents, such as environmental protection, water and soil control and cultural relics protection, and set up an environmental protection management team, employing five local environmental protection engineers to engage in professional management. The project department shall set up a person responsible for environmental protection at each construction site to ensure that there is a special person responsible for environmental protection management on site.
