Breakthrough Achieved in Luorongzhuang Tunnel on Chongqing-Kunming High-Speed Railway in Yunnan
Source: Date:2024年08月26日

On August 1, after more than 940 days of relentless effort by builders from China TIESIJU Civil Engineering Group, the 5,260-meter-long Luorongzhuang Tunnel on the Chongqing-Kunming High-Speed Railway was successfully completed. This marks the first tunnel exceeding 5 kilometers in length to be completed within the Yunnan section of the Chongqing-Kunming High-Speed Railway.

Located in Songming County, Kunming, the Luorongzhuang Tunnel is a single-tube, double-track tunnel that traverses multiple complex geological areas, including four fault fracture zones, five karst development zones, and three minor gas zones. The tunnel passes beneath the existing Shanghai-Kunming High-Speed Railway and the Yinchuan-Kunming Expressway, with the shortest distances between them being only 20 meters and 10 meters, respectively. The construction faced significant safety risks, including potential collapses, mud inrushes, water seepage, harmful gas infiltration, and expressway subsidence.

The Chongqing-Kunming High-Speed Railway is a key component of the Beijing-Kunming corridor in China’s Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal railway network. The railway stretches 699 kilometers, with 388.6 kilometers located in Yunnan Province. Currently, 15 out of 63 tunnels in the Yunnan section of the Chongqing-Kunming High-Speed Railway have been completed, with significant progress made in 10 major bridge and tunnel control projects.
