On June 9, the steel truss girder closure section of the main channel bridge of Changtai Yangtze River Bridge, designed by China Railway Major Bridge Reconnaissance & Design Institute and constructed by China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group and China Railway Hi-Tech Industry, was welded. The bridge's closure was completed, with the closure accuracy controlled within 2 mm. So far, the world's largest span highway and railway cable-stayed bridge has been completed after five years of construction. Changzhou and Taizhou on both sides of the Yangtze River have successfully connected.
Changtai Yangtze River Bridge is the first river-crossing road on the Yangtze River, which integrates expressways, inter-city railways, and ordinary highways. The bridge's total length is 10.03 kilometers, of which the highway and railway section is 5299.2 meters long. It consists of a steel truss cable-stayed bridge with a main span of 1208 meters, two steel truss arch bridges with a main span of 388 meters, and a continuous steel truss bridge with a main span of 3 X 124 meters. It has set three world records: the largest span cable-stayed bridge, the most significant span highway and railway dual-purpose steel truss arch bridge, and the largest continuous-length steel truss bridge.
