On December 28, 2023, the Shandong Province Binzhou Yellow River Bridge, which China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group built, was opened to traffic.
Binzhou Yellow River Bridge Project starts from the central urban area of Binzhou City, Shandong Province, in the north and ends at Gaoqing County, Zibo City, in the south. It is designed as a two-way six-lane bridge with a design speed of 80 kilometers per hour and a total length of about 17.4 kilometers, of which the Yellow River Bridge is about 5 kilometers long, and the road is about 12.4 kilometers long. The 8.88 kilometers opened to traffic this time include the steel pipe arch bridge across the embankment on the north bank, the main bridge across the steel-concrete section of the Yellow River, the approach bridge outside the embankment on the south bank, and part of the roadbed.
The main bridge of the Binzhou Yellow River Bridge is a steel-concrete composite continuous beam bridge, and the main span of 5 × 190 meters steel-concrete composite continuous beam is the largest span of a similar bridge in China. The 60-m UHPC steel-concrete composite beam is used in the middle of the span, which effectively reduces the dead weight and avoids the negative reaction of the side span bearings. The adverse effect of the linear change caused by the shrinkage and creep of the concrete is reduced.
