Following the successful completion of a 24-hour emergency rescue operation at Namibia’s Aris Bridge, the 610-meter-long Aris emergency rescue road project, constructed by the Namibia Capital Road Project Department of China Railway Seventh Group under CREC, was officially completed and opened to traffic on April 29 local time.
At 5 a.m. on the same day, officials from Namibia’s Ministry of Transport announced the road’s official opening on-site, and Namibia National Television provided live coverage. As a key regional emergency rescue project, the road is 8.5 meters wide with two lanes in each direction. A total of 135 box culverts have been embedded to improve drainage, and 50 cm of stone backfill was used to replace soft subgrades during the rainy season, significantly enhancing load-bearing capacity.
The completion of this emergency passageway will significantly improve the region’s flood response capacity and ensure the smooth flow of the all-weather transportation network during the rainy season.
