Xinyang Road and Fangming Road Stations of Wuxi Metro Line 5 Topped Out Using Integrated Prefabrication 2.0 Technology
Source: Date:2025年07月16日

On June 19, Xinyang Road and Fangming Road stations of Wuxi Metro Line 5 were successfully topped out using the advanced Integrated Prefabrication 2.0 construction technology.

Wuxi Metro Line 5 spans approximately 29.5 kilometers with 24 stations. The Section 8 EPC project adopts an integrated design, procurement, and construction model, covering Fangming Road to Xinyang Road to Xinzhou Road to Xinhua Road (excluding). The First Engineering Bureau of CREC is responsible for the construction of Xinyang Road Station, Xinzhou Road Station, and three shield tunnel sections.

Xinyang Road and Fangming Road stations, key hubs of Line 5, feature a construction approach centered on smart building and green low-carbon practices. Using Integrated Prefabrication 2.0, they achieved a prefabrication rate of 90.2%. Station components were pre-manufactured in factories and then assembled on-site like building blocks to form the complete structural framework.

Compared to traditional construction methods, the prefabricated approach reduces on-site manual labor by approximately 80%, shortens the construction period by about 20%, and significantly decreases construction waste, dust, and noise.

With the adoption of innovative technologies like the BIM visualization platform and automated monitoring of steel support axial forces, the safety management model has transitioned from manual oversight to technology-driven protection.

The construction team actively collaborated with research institutions, acquiring 103 patents and formulating the Integrated Prefabrication Underground Station Construction Method, which earned provincial and ministerial-level recognition. They also contributed to the development of seven industry standards, filling multiple technical gaps in China’s infrastructure construction field.
