On August 10, under the guidance of CREC, hosted by China Railway Tunnel Group, and organized by the National Key Laboratory of Tunnel Boring Machine and Intelligent Operation & Maintenance, the Shield Machine/TBM Big Data Mining Consortium Founding Conference and Release of the Vertical Large Model for Tunnel and Underground Space was held at the Tunnel Boring Machine Intelligent Construction Cloud Center in Zhengzhou High-tech Zone. At the event, China’s first vertical large model in the tunnel and underground space field — the “Pioneer · Tunnel Large Model” — was officially released.
As the first vertical large model in the tunnel field, the “Pioneer · Tunnel Large Model v1.0” is built upon 773 engineering routes and 120 billion construction data entries from the Shield Machine/TBM Engineering Big Data Center. It establishes a vertical large-model technical framework driven by small and medium models under a general model scheduling system, forming a new digital-intelligence feedback empowerment system integrating AI throughout the full lifecycle of tunnel and underground space projects. The model developed the Tunnel Hero AI Assistant for deep human-computer interaction exploration, enabling new functions including industry education, professional Q&A, industry standards, text translation, special solutions, and construction organization support. By advancing alignment and fine-tuning technologies for large models, a series of knowledge- and scenario-driven small and medium models were created, leading to new digital-intelligence decision-making paradigms in BIM visualization of tunnel design, construction evaluation, equipment selection, and operation & maintenance perception and interpretation. The model has already been validated in projects such as the Plateau Railway Tunnel, Chongming-Taicang Yangtze River Tunnel, and Shenzhen-Jiangmen Railway Pearl River Estuary Tunnel, achieving safety, quality, efficiency, and sustainability in tunnel construction, while promoting the industry’s digital-intelligent transformation and upgrading.
At the same time, the conference also hosted events such as the Shield Machine/TBM Big Data Mining Consortium Forum, CREC AI Promotion Conference, and Academic Salon, where participants held in-depth discussions on topics including data asset marketization, industrial chain restructuring, and collaborative equipment manufacturing.
