Recently, the Sabi Star Lithium Mine Thermal Power Plant in Zimbabwe, constructed by China Railway No.10 Engineering Group, successfully passed completion acceptance and was officially put into operation.
Located about 300 kilometers southeast of Zimbabwe’s capital Harare, the Sabi Star Lithium Mine Thermal Power Plant is primarily intended to provide power for the mining and processing facilities of the Sabi Star Lithium Mine and for surrounding residential use. It has a designed capacity of 15 MW and covers an area of 67.5 mu. The main construction works include the main plant building, cooling tower, dust removal workshop, coal crushing building, coal storage shed, maintenance workshop, water treatment workshop and chemical pool, integrated building, and circulating water pump house.
During the construction of the cooling tower, the project team decomposed the process step by step and conducted comprehensive technical and safety briefings for all workers. Strict three-step inspection procedures were carried out after each stage to ensure quality control throughout. By coordinating domestic and international expertise, the team tackled technical challenges and successfully overcame key bottlenecks. After 33 cycles of formwork, the 45-meter-high cooling tower was successfully completed.
