On September 2, Chen Wenjian, Chairman of CREC, met in Beijing with Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who was in China to attend the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. The two sides held in-depth discussions on strengthening practical cooperation in infrastructure, mineral resources, and other fields, and reached important consensus.
President Mnangagwa recalled the discussions and consensus reached during last year’s meeting between the two sides. He expressed appreciation for the achievements of bilateral cooperation over the past year and satisfaction with the rapid progress of key projects. He highly praised CREC’s technological and management advantages and its development achievements worldwide. He stated that Zimbabwe welcomes CREC’s continued comprehensive participation in the country’s infrastructure construction and mineral resource development, actively supporting Zimbabwe’s economic growth and livelihood improvement, and providing new momentum for deepening and enhancing the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Zimbabwe.
Chen Wenjian expressed gratitude to President Mnangagwa and the Zimbabwean government for their long-standing trust and support for CREC. He noted that under the guidance of the joint statement between China and Zimbabwe on deepening and enhancing the comprehensive strategic partnership and building a high-level China-Zimbabwe community with a shared future, the two sides have made positive progress in infrastructure construction, mineral resource development, and other fields. Looking ahead, CREC will follow the consensus reached with President Mnangagwa to further integrate into Zimbabwe’s infrastructure development and its urbanization, industrialization, and digitalization processes, leverage its full industry-chain advantages, and explore innovative business models, contributing CREC’s wisdom and strength to help Zimbabwe achieve its Vision 2030.
