At 4:00 a.m. on January 16, China Railway No.8 Engineering Group and China Railway Electrification Engineering Group jointly completed the key transitional upgrade of Chengdu Bali Station, including signal switchover and track realignment works. This both upgraded the functions of the 74-year-old railway station and created conditions for introducing the Chengdu–Chongqing Midline High-Speed Railway into Chengdu Station.
Bali Station is located adjacent to Chengdu Station and connects multiple mainline railways, including the Chengdu–Chongqing and Dazhou–Chengdu lines, serving as the throat of the Chengdu railway hub. The core task of this upgrade was to realign the existing Chengdu–Chongqing and Dazhou–Chengdu lines between Chengdu Station and Bali Station onto the newly built eastern ring realignment corridor, while simultaneously carrying out systematic adaptive upgrades at Chengdu Station, Bali Station, the passenger train servicing depot, and the EMU depot II yard. This both freed up critical construction sites for the Chengdu–Chongqing Midline project and improved transport efficiency on existing lines through equipment upgrades, achieving the dual goals of uninterrupted construction and unobstructed transportation.
