Source: Date:2026年04月13日

On March 25, construction officially commenced on the Guangzhou New Airport in Foshan City, Guangdong Province, with participation from China Railway Construction Engineering Group under CREC.

Located in Genghe Town, Gaoming District of Foshan, the Guangzhou New Airport covers an area of approximately 1,213 hectares. It is planned with three runways and two terminal buildings, meeting the 4E aerodrome standard, and is scheduled for completion and operation during the 15th Five-Year Plan period. The current phase is designed to handle an annual passenger throughput of 30 million and cargo and mail throughput of 500,000 tonnes, with projections to meet 60 million passengers and 2.2 million tonnes of cargo and mail by 2050. China Railway Construction Engineering Group’s scope of work mainly includes bridges and tunnels in the T1 terminal area, as well as earthworks, foundation pit support, pile foundations, main structures, and intelligent construction works for the reserved northern terminal area.

Upon operation, the airport will effectively address the shortage of civil aviation facilities on the western bank of the Pearl River Estuary, better meeting the air travel needs of residents in Foshan, Zhaoqing, Jiangmen, Yunfu and surrounding areas. Together with airports in Guangzhou Baiyun, Shenzhen Bao’an, Hong Kong, and Macao, it will form a coordinated, functionally complementary, and more balanced world-class airport cluster with broader regional coverage.
