On June 19 (local time), the trial power transmission of the Luisha Copper-Cobalt Mine Solar PV-Storage Microgrid Power Station in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, constructed by China Railway Seventh Group under CREC, was successfully completed. On-site load commissioning of the generating units proceeded smoothly and in an orderly manner, with stable power output and excellent power quality.
The project is located in Luisha Town, Haut-Katanga Province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, approximately 80 kilometers from the provincial capital of Lubumbashi. Benefiting from abundant sunshine and more than 2,400 hours of annual sunshine, the area possesses exceptional solar energy resources. Once fully commissioned, the power station will provide a stable daily output of 14 megawatts of clean electricity, supplying power for up to 11 hours during daylight hours and generating more than 50 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually. It will fully meet the mine’s core production power demand, effectively overcoming the long-standing challenges of unstable grid power supply and excessive reliance on diesel generators.
