Phase I of the Nuowei Mining Copper Processing and Smelting Project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo Commences Production

Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo — On June 12 (local time), the commissioning ceremony was held for the Nuowei Mining 50,000-ton-per-year Copper Processing and Smelting Project (Phase I) in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, constructed by China Railway No.9 Group.

Construction of the project officially commenced on July 1, 2025. The project covers the entire production chain from raw ore feeding to finished metal products. Major construction works include processing facilities for crushing, grinding, leaching, continuous counter-current decantation (CCD), solvent extraction and electrowinning, together with a complete range of supporting production and living facilities, including a mechanical maintenance workshop, captive power plant, fuel depot, acid storage facility, finished product warehouse, sampling and testing laboratory, circulating water pool, heavy-duty hardened yard, weighbridge station and staff gymnasium. At present, all construction works, including civil engineering, steel structure erection, installation of complete process equipment and individual equipment commissioning, have been completed to a high standard.
