Box Girder Erection Completed for Xinyi River Bridge on Lianyungang-Suqian Expressway
Source: Date:2026年08月12日

On August 7, the box girder erection for the Xinyi River Bridge on the Guanyun–Shuyang section of the Lianyungang–Suqian Expressway in Jiangsu Province was completed. The project is being constructed by China Railway No. 7 Engineering Group Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of CREC. The completion of box girder erection has laid a solid foundation for subsequent deck paving and ancillary works.

The Xinyi River Bridge has a total length of 2,284.2 meters and comprises 56 spans and 368 box girders. As a key control project along the Lianyungang–Suqian Expressway, its construction has faced multiple challenges, including difficult cross-river operations, restricted girder transportation routes, the flood season, and high temperatures.

The Lianyungang–Suqian Expressway is an important component of the “Third East–West Corridor” under Jiangsu Province’s expressway network plan, which comprises 15 radial routes, six north–south corridors, and 10 east–west corridors. The expressway is approximately 140 kilometers long, of which the Guanyun–Shuyang section within Lianyungang spans 15.98 kilometers. Once completed and opened to traffic, the Lianyungang–Suqian Expressway will provide direct and rapid connectivity between Lianyungang and Suqian, further improve the east–west expressway network in northern Jiangsu, strengthen the reach and connectivity of Lianyungang Port, and promote coordinated development in the Huaihai Economic Zone and regional integration in northern Yangtze River Delta.
