Anthem of CREC—“Trailbreaker”
The first box girder was completed on September 7 at the No.4 beam fabrication yard of the Jakarta-Bandung High-speed Railway project undertaken by China Railway Group Limited (CREC) in Indonesia since work resumed after the COVID-19 outbreak. This box girder, 24.6 meters in length and 218 cubic meters in design volume, took six Chinese employees and 26 Indonesian workers four hours to complete.
The same day, the newly added DIK99-DIK100 tunnel of the high-speed railway, undertaken by China Railway No.3 Engineering Group Co., Ltd., began construction.
According to the original plan, this section was designed to be a track line. Considering that the slopes on both sides are hard to be maintained stable, it was redesigned into a tunnel. Located in a hilly area, this tunnel is 208 meters long, and the surrounding Class-VI rock masses have weak self-stability. Therefore, it would need a plethora of supporting measures in the construction process, increasing the difficulty of the project. (by Li Jinpeng and Zhang Yu)
