New Progress Made in the Construction of Boten Station on China-Laos Railway

On March 2, the roof-setting of the Boten Station was finished, marking that construction and installation of roof grid began at the border station on China-Laos Railway. The project is undertaken by China Railway Construction Engineering Group.

The first China-Laos Railway station in the territory of Laos, Boten Station is located in the Boten Economic Development Zone of Namtha Province. With a construction area of 6,500 square meters, the station is built beside rails and is designed to handle passenger transportation. It has two platforms and four railway lines (including a main line). The station building is located on the west side of the main line, and adopts the design of one-stop customs clearance, capable of accommodating as many as 300 people.

The China-Laos Railway has a total length of more than 1,000 kilometers. It starts from Yuxi City in Yunnan Province, crosses Pu’er City, Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, and the border town of Mohan, and ends in Vientiane, the capital of Laos. When completed and put into traffic, the railway will enable passengers to travel from Kunming to Laos within a day.
