Northern Part of Oujiang North Estuary Bridge Completes Closure

  On December 11, the northern part of the Oujiang North Estuary Bridge in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province, closed as the last section of its steel truss beam weighing 760 tons was hoisted in place. Constructed by China Railway Shanhaiguan Bridge Group, the bridge is one step closer to the final closure as the construction team perfectly completed the joining of the northern part of the bridge.

  The Oujiang North Estuary Bridge is the world’s first steel truss double-deck suspension bridge with three towers and four spans. The main bridge measures 2,080 meters long. With expressway at the upper layer and the Nanjin highway at the lower, theproject is one of the first “green highways” designated by the Ministry of Transport, as well as China’s first bridge applying BIM technology in the whole life cycle of construction. After completion, its traffic capacity is expected to reach 107,000 vehicles a day. China Railway Shanhaiguan Bridge Group undertook the manufacturing of the BKGL-03 steel beam of the bridge.
