Anthem of CREC—“Trailbreaker”

On August 31, President Zhang Zongyan of CREC held talks with Cote d'Ivoire's President Alassane Ouattara and exchanged views regarding Abidjan FHB international airport project on China-Cote d'Ivoire Economic Forum.

This forum, held in Bvlgari Hotel Beijing, aims to give Chinese enterprises a better understanding of the economic and trade environment, cooperation prospects as well as the investment opportunities and PPP projects in key areas in Cote d'Ivoire. President Ouattara, Chinese Ambassador to Cote d'Ivoire, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of Cote d'Ivoire, President of China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products (CCCMB) delivered speeches on the forum respectively.

Zhang introduced CREC and its oversea business, especially its offices and projects in Cote d'Ivoire. Zhang also expressed his wish in actively participating in Cote d'Ivoire’s infrastructure construction. Later on the forum, with Ministry of Transport of Cote d'lvoire, China Railway International Group of CREC signed the framework agreement on the expansion project of Abidjan FHB international airport.

On the same day, Vice-president Ren Hongpeng of CREC held meetings with James Macharia, head of Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Kenya, as well as Carlos Mesquita, head of Ministry of Transportation and Communication of Mozambique.

In the meeting with Macharia, Ren gave an introduction of CREC and spoke highly of Kenya’s government planning. He stressed that Kenya is a valuable market and CREC will actively participate in the construction of the country and contribute in every possible way to promote the prosperity development of Kenya. Macharia said Kenya is a country with steady economic development, distinct geographical advantage and great potential. Under Kenya’s Big Four Agenda, there will be a great number of major projects in areas such as housing, railway, light rail, subway, port, road, economic corridor and so on. Therefore, Kenya is in need of the participation of large enterprises such as CREC.

During the talk with Mesquita, Ren extended a warm welcome to Mesquita’s second visit to CREC and expressed his wish to see him more often in CREC so as to strengthen bilateral exchanges and cooperation. Mesquita thanked CREC for the great hospitality and gave an update on transportation infrastructure condition in Mozambique, adding that the construction of railway, road and port has a great significance to the economic development of Mozambique and its surrounding regions. Noting the rapid development and fruitful outcomes of China-Mozambique ties, Mesquita called on the both sides to strengthen cooperation in Mozambique’s infrastructure construction.
