Clearing Lightweight Debris Along Railway Lines to Build a Green and Safe Barrier
Source: Date:2026年08月14日

August 15 is National Ecology Day. For the Hefei Maintenance Management Section of China Railway Electrification Engineering Group, protecting the ecological environment along railway lines is a routine task that has been carried out consistently over the long term. In the course of corporate reform and development, the Hefei Maintenance Management Section of the Shanghai Maintenance Management Office of the Operation and Maintenance Company has consistently implemented the concept of green development, incorporating the removal of lightweight debris and garbage along railway lines into its routine railway maintenance and management operations.

For a long time, employees of the Hefei Maintenance Management Section have regularly conducted inspections and clean-up operations along railway lines within their jurisdiction, focusing on protective nets, plastic sheeting, dust screens, and accumulated garbage in surrounding areas. During the first seven months of this year, more than 600 personnel-visits were recorded, with over 300 kilometers of railway lines inspected and cleaned and more than 1,000 locations of lightweight debris and garbage removed. These efforts have effectively mitigated the safety risks of foreign objects being blown onto the overhead contact system during strong winds and causing failures in the catenary system. At the same time, during routine inspections, employees have continued to educate local residents and construction parties along the railway lines about external environmental management and ecological protection, distributing more than 1,000 informational leaflets.

Through consistent action, the Hefei Maintenance Management Section has implemented the company’s environmental protection requirements, achieving long-term harmonious coexistence between railway transportation safety and the ecological environment along the railway lines.
