Green landscaping for the Yuxi-Mohan section of the China-Laos Railway, a cross-border line surveyed and designed by China Railway Eryuan Engineering Group Co., Ltd., has been 95 percent completed. As the landscaping project is being accelerated along the Yuxi-Mohan section, a “green corridor” covering the entire railway is taking shape.

The China-Laos Railway is the world’s first cross-border railroad to adopt systematic green landscaping design along the whole line, as well as the first large mainline railroad in Asia to integrate ecological protection, landscape beautification, and cultural customs. Along the line are ecological diversity, dense distribution of environmentally sensitive areas, and a great number of nature reserves. Designers used geographic information system and other high-tech means to determine route for landscaping that is environmentally-friendly, and conducted exterior design and interior decoration for station houses and auxiliary facilities along the entire line in light of local cultural, geographical, and architectural characteristics.
