Before the completion of the bridge, traffic of people and goods across the Saloum River relied on ferry boats and barges due to a lack of bridge connecting both banks. Now with Foundiougne Bridge built, it is expected that the journey to drive from the Fatick Region to the eastern and western parts of Senegal will be shortened by three hours. (By Guo Qiang and Chen Xi)
