On August 13, the first pile foundation of the main tower of the newly built Chaohu-Ma’anshan Intercity Railway Bridge across the Yangtze River, a project undertaken by the No.4 company of China Tiesiju Civil Engineering Group, was successfully launched for drilling, which kicked off the construction of the bridge. It is also the largest-span ballastless track high-speed railway bridge in the world.

Ballastless Track High-speed Railway Bridge

The waterway bridge across the Yangtze River is designed as a (56+168+392+168+56)-meter double-towered, cable-stayed bridge with steel truss girders, with a main span of 392 meters. It adopts the standard of “four-line railway plus six-lane highway”: the upper highway is a two-way six-lane urban expressway, and the lower four lines include a two-line Chaohu-Ma’anshan intercity railway and a reserved railway by the two-line intercity railway standard.
